Welcome to Monroe County Minutes, where we cover actual events happening in Monroe County, Michigan, with the reverence they deserve (which is to say, very little).

What We Do

We take real news from Monroe County — city council meetings, local development projects, community events — and add the commentary that everyone's thinking but nobody's saying out loud. Think of us as your friend who reads all the local government minutes so you don't have to, then tells you about it over drinks.

Our Mission

To make local news entertaining enough that you'll actually read it. If you leave our site knowing more about Monroe County politics than when you arrived, but also had a laugh, we've done our job.

The Fine Print

All events and situations we cover are real. The quotes from officials are (usually) real. Our interpretations, comparisons to tech startups, and suggestions that the kayak launch is sentient are... less real. This is satire, commentary, and opinion wrapped in journalism's hand-me-down clothes.

Why We Exist

Because someone needs to point out that spending 27 months to install a kayak launch is peak local government efficiency. Because renaming Milan Dragway to "Darana" deserves mockery. Because if we don't laugh at the three-year timeline to fix a bridge, we'll cry.
